Punkin Pickin' With My Punkin

It's OCTOBER!!!! "It's the most wonderful time of the year" This is seriously my most favorite month. I love the crisp air, the changing leaves, soup, warm jammies, leaving the window open at night to get even that much more snuggled up in a cozy blanket, Halloween, and pickin' punkins! Another thing to add to obsession list is that I now get to share my favorite things with my Little Lou.
I wanted to start a tradition with Lou and got a great idea from my sweet friend Jessica. I did a treasure hunt around our house with clues taped on the bottom of pumpkins and gourds. Because Rayni is not yet able to do the game I was able to make it a lot harder for her daddy.  The goodies at the end were: pumpkin skittles and pastachios for daddy, a new "My First Halloween" outfit for Rayni, and a Reeses peanut butter cup for mommy.
There was also another clue in the basket that led our little family to a pumpkin patch. I was so giddy and excited all week to share this with Rayni! I was a little worried that she would not love it as much as me, but as soon as we arrived it was complete astonishment and excitement from head to toe! She was amazed at all the pumpkins. I quickly walked over and set her down right in the middle of it all. She started shaking and squealing  with excitement. The camera was quickly whipped out as I didn't want to miss a thing. With much effort to get a single picture of Rayni smiling at the camera but with no success! She was completely captivated by the pumpkins and would not take her eyes off of them. We were able to snap a few but got a total stink face of, "mom, dad, stop bugging me! I'm busy!" It brought so much joy to me that she was loving it just as much as I was.
Daddy found a few punkins that were just her size and she picked out the cutest one, the one with the most personality. Not perfect to the perfectionist's eye, but just perfect for Rayni. It had a few bumps and warts and a curly stem. It was a punkin to make her mommy proud!
She carried that little punkin all the way home. And when we got there I took it away to get her out of her car seat, and she started screaming and crying like I had done the most horrific thing in the world, TAKE HER PUNKIN AWAY FROM HER!!! how dare I. It was quickly returned and a smile spread across her face.
She is defiantly going to be my little October baby! She was almost just as excited when we started decorating the house, nothing scared her.

Here are some great pictures that I will cherish FOREVER!!!
